Sweep the stairs and remove the staples or nails with pliers or a hammer. Measure the stair lifts and treads with a tape measure. Using these measurements, mark the sheets of laminate and molding in front of the step with a pencil. Use a table saw to cut planks and moldings of the measured sizes. Make sure you are meticulous as to measure and cut. You want the planks and rim moldings to butt hard on both sides of the stairwell wall.
