Measure the distance between the two poles where you will mount the bamboo fencing. Construct a square of timber that fits the width of the gap. Leave a quarter of an inch on either side for spaces. So, for example, if your gap is 36 inches wide, you will want to cut the width pieces of the square to 35 1/2 inches. You can use some type of scrap or fresh wood, but keep it thin, for half an inch, so it can hold bamboo. Place a crosspiece running from the lower left corner of the square to the top right.

Cut down pieces of bamboo you want to use for the door. You will need quite thick pieces for the four sides of the gate, about 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches wide. Cut the bamboo you need for the door. You can run bamboo either horizontally or vertically, but vertically positioned bamboo fencing provides a fine, symmetrical effect.  Drill a screw through the bamboo and into the bar on one side of the gate. Then repeat the process on the opposite bar with the lower bamboo. Continue placing bamboo and secure it with the screws until the door is covered. Install the door to the adjacent hinged fence. Finish by attaching the lock hardware.
