Wood Fence Styles – You want your fence to keep people and unwanted animals out of your yard, mark the lines of property they are in and protect your privacy; But the owners also want their fence to be aesthetically pleasing. Wooden fences come in many different styles to suit a variety of needs, and you can choose from several types of wood for use in construction. Wooden fences are commonly made in western red cedar, pine, treated pine, lobster wood, fir, cedar, cypress, and redwood.
A tall man, near solid, fencing privacy works well when you do not want neighbors or bystanders to look in your yard. Choose the pickets, which are the individual wooden slats that make up the fence, with the undecorated lids or notched corners on the top called dog ears. The pickets are placed vertically. The privacy fence is also available with a lattice option where the top half of the fence is created from a cross pattern and the bottom half is solid. The privacy fence looks the same to your neighbor as to you, so it’s good for neighborly relations. Unfortunately, the privacy of fencing can also not withstand strong winds, as there is no separation between the pickets.
Another fencing option that looks as good to you as to you is the shadowbox fencing, which offers straight, concave and convex styles. Straight box fencing shadowbox has plates of the same length at all, while the curved panels of the shadowbox fence convex upwards and the curved panels of the shadowbox fence concave downwards. The fence is double-sided, with solid or spaced vertical pickets placed on both sides along the panels. Fenced shadowbox is usually shorter than the privacy of fencing.
